It was an unexpected day for me last sunday. I was planning to join at SM North weekly Tourney and prepared my Madolche deck beforeand. With Kuya Louwee's tourney a bit early, I decided to pass by and see a couple of plays before proceeding to SM North.
When I arrived there was a couple of new faces and it was great seeing old friends as well. I arrived early and there was still a few people at the venue. I got play a few games before headeing to the tournament area.
Kuya Jose and Kuya Benedict was missing one team mate, they invited me and I decided to join. We immediately arranged our decks. It was quite easy since I don't run much staples, just the standard Reborn, Storm and Hole. Most forums says Heavy Storm aren't for Madolches because they rely more on their backrows but not me. My Madolche is at par with Wind-ups in terms of speed and control. Bwahahaha...
Our team order was Kuya Benedict as our Team Leader, followed by Kuya Jose and me as players A and B respectively.
Decks played where Machina, Agents and Madolches (Derp as Kuya Jose calls it).
I noticed I was the only one playing Madolche at the tournament and all the other players are using either Chaos Dragons, Agents, Samurais, Machinas, Lightsworns, Mermails, Darkworlds, Infernities, etc.The reason I decided to play the team tourney was for the experience and to assess myself if I'm good playing with others. I can play at SM North and Galleria some other times. So, I won't miss anything if I skip one duel.
Match 1: Madolche VS Rabbit Laggia
Game 1: Got really bad hand with only Messengelatos on my hand while my opponent has Thunder King Rai-oh on the field. When the time came, I had Spell Striker and Inferno Reckless Summon while he controls TKRO, Sabersaurs and Hydrogeddon. I special summoned Striker and played IRS and my opponent chose Hydrogeddon (LOL). I do a bunch of exceeds but was Booked and TKROed. On his turn I have no answer to his massive Dino army. Thanks to IRS.
Game 2: I sided Imperial Iron Wall and shut down his prisons. I didn't OTK him but Tiaramisu was too big for Laggia.
Game 3: He played TKRO. I had Crowassant and Chateau. Nuff said. No one can beat a rabid pastry dog high on sugar. LOL.
Team Score: XX0
Match 2: Madolche VS Lightsworn
Game 1: He milled Gorz. Lightray Deadalus kills me.
Game 2: He milled Gorz. Madolche Magic. At last my deck started to move on its own. The Queen and her knights are too big handle. Luckily Gorz was milled.
Game 3: He milled Gorz. Later, he had Lightray Deadalus and 2 Judgment Dragons. I had a clear field thanks to JD. But I had Tragoedia and tons of hand due to chateau bouncing all my madolches to my hand awhile back. He attacked me directly, I summoned Trag and he just ended his turn. I topped deck Dark Hole. Die. I have tons of monsters so I was able to bring his life points down a bit. We exchange hits and I set my Ceasefire when he had only 1000 Life Points left and I had 2 Messengelato on the field. On his Draw Phase. Cease Fire.
Team Score: XX0
Match 3: Madolche VS Agents
Game 1: I left myself open and I died to Gachi Gachi, Venus, and Hyperion.
Game 2: I kept returning his agents to his deck. Tiaramisu and her Knight kept Hyperion at bay.
Game 3: Madoche Magic. Ended his Life Points with Tiaramisu, 2 Knights and Excalibur.
Team Score: 0X0
I was expecting we aren't going to the top 4 teams but by shear chance and luck we did. I was happy of course but I was already contented with the results. Nevertheless, I was not complaining. We were pitted agianst my friends from Team Legarda. I was excited and scared at the same time. Especially, when I knew who was their team's player B. It was Kuya Carlo and as expected he was using his Mermails-Atlanteans. Kuya Carlo is a great duelist and very good guy. I know this will be a great duel.
Match 4: Madolche VS Atlantean-Mermails.
Game 1: I really don't have any luck with dice rolls. Hehehehe... So Kuya Carlo went first. He started with the Spike-Seahorseman play and gathered the needed monsters for the otk. He set one card facedown and ended his turn. It was my turn and I set Trap stun. On his turn I was OTK'ed. LOL. As expected.
Game 2: I Prohibit his Megalo-Abyss and set Trap Stun. He did the Spike-Seahorseman play but wasn't able to do the Megalo OTK. He sets a couple of cards and ended. On my turn, he tried to Aoi but I had Stun then I showed my hand he conceded. It was a good thing Kuya Carlo knew how my decks work and it saves time.
Game 3: Spike-Seahorseman play (How consistent can that be.. hehehehe...) He sets a card facdown card and ended. On my turn, he played Aoi and ditched my Instant Fusion. I wasn't able to OTK him this turn and I don't have any answers to his plays next turn. I set Trap Stun and ended. He showed me his hand and I conceded. As impressive as always Kuya Carlo. I offered a handshake and watched our team mates duels. LOL. We where the ones who finished first.
Eventually, our team lost to that match but anyway I was contented. Kuya Carlo's Team won the tourney and got the Gold Box as the event's prize. It was a new experience for me joining a team. And I think I have a long way to go before I get to be compatible with any player.

DOUBLE TROUBLE
I've been searching for some cards over the net one day and noticed some old cards that have some what two effects or at least , effects that activate in different scenarios, thus giving the card player control.
Ever seen this trap? Well, it may be a lower class of it's brother Dust Tornado but this bad boy will prove that his effect is not to be little, especially in a format with inzekters running loose and no trishula or trunades to ruin nor bounce this card when set and an occasional brionac but that's not the point. Ever notice how inzekter plays first by eliminating its opponent back row first. Imagine, set this early game and your opponent summons damsels equips hornet, hornet destroys this and boom! bye-bye damsel, two for the price of one. It also serves a new purpose thanks to a new monster released on Galactic Overload but I'll discuss that later.
Second on the list is a good old buddy, Security Orb. It's effect can become helpful when battling monsters with huge attack points, like the infamous No. 17 Leviathan Dragon, which in most cases has quite the low defense to compensate their powerful attack points. Well, that is a good point but that is not the reason why he's here. Like our first candidate, SO has an ability when destroyed while face down, but unlike WT, this trap needs to be destroyed by a spell or trap card. So here's the fun part, Hornet is a spell card when his destruction effects activate, so this guy can trigger without fail. Not to mention having three Mystical Space Typhoons and a Heavy Storm will guarantee to trigger this card.
Toy Magician a monster that hides in the spell and trap zone. Who wouldn't like to trick their opponent on wasting their opponent's MST on this card. Think about it you get a monster during the end turn it was destroyed and you on your turn can be ready to use it to attack, tribute, synchro or xyz summon, imaginations the limit.
Who would forget an old classic? During the days it was a good couple with magical hats. Though not as threatening and game breaking as our previous traps, Dark Coffin has met another friend that will prove to be a valuable asset in its own deck. But let's discuss it another time.
There is quite a very few spells that have abilities suc as this guy. But now that more destruction cards are being played, well see more of this guy or expecting to see this guy in action. Spell Calling calls forth a quick play from your deck once destroyed by a spell or trap card by your opponent, though that card can't activate the turn it was set but what are the odds. There are tons of quick-play spells at loose right now; Enemy Controller, Book of Moon, Forbidden Lance, Forbidden Chalice and Emergency Teleport now at 2 might make you think this guy is worth the try.
